As a result of this additional usage, Microsoft have made changes to de-emphasis some features to free up valuable computing resources to ensure vital services remain responsive.

Microsoft Secure Score is to be updated based on feedback received from customers. The changes, to be rolled out on the 16th March, provide a more accurate representation of an organisations security posture.

SharePoint will see the addition of multilingual publishing for modern SharePoint communications sites. The feature enables inclusiveness by enabling organisations to easily enable translation of SharePoint modern pages. This feature is expected to be rolled out to Microsoft 365 customers by end of March 2020. Note that this will not be available for tenants within China hosted by 21Vianet.

Microsoft is retiring basic authentication. Whilst the expected implementation time is later in the year, 13 October 2020, those still using basic authentication for Exchange Online connectivity, including EWS, EAS, IMAP, POP, and RPS, should begin planning to move away from basic authentication to OAuth 2.

The new application removes the need to have multiple office applications and combines them into a single application. The new app consolidates Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, making it a single place to create, modify, and search for documents.
